Met an author in person?

Have you ever met an author in person? If so, who was it? What was this person like?

I once met Rhys Darby whom isn't necessary an author but he was selling his book at the time and signing his book. He was real cool and funny to meet.

I've met a few authors in person when my sister took me to a book signing. A lot of her author friends were there to support that author who was signing books. It was a really nice time and made me want to look into what they've written (horror).

There are a couple of local authors that I know.

But other than that, not that I know of. I'd remember if I did.
