Read out loud or in your head?

Do you read out loud or in your head? Why do you do it that way?

I read them in my head because I cannot concentrate if I read them out loud plus I'm always around someone such as my partner so I would look weird.

I read in my head because my spouse is usually nearby watching their tv shows and I don't want to disturb them.

It's one thing to read out loud to your children.....

I read in my head because I understand it better. If I read out loud then I'm trying hard to sound like the characters. I probably sound ridiculous too!

Oh, I know I sound ridiculous. I from the south so I literally sound like cornbread when I talk, I'm sure.

I like reading in my head too. I just don't even enjoy reading out aloud as it would mean that I don't want to fully understand what I was reading. So, to understand things better, I read them in my head.
